Special Needs Unit

Objectives

The unit pursues to achieve a number of objectives represented in:

  • Creating a supportive and appropriate educational environment for students with special needs and seeking to overcome all obstacles and challenges that may face them.
  • Preparing mentoring programs to support students.
  • Receiving proposals and requests from students with special needs and transferring them to the responsible authorities to implement them.
  • Raising awareness for the university community about people with special needs
  • Providing recreational and social services by facilitating participation in student clubs and international celebrations (International Day of the Blind).

Categories served by the unit

  • Students with mobility impairments.
  • Visually impaired.
  • Students with speech problems.
  • Hearing impairment.
  • Students who suffer from a temporary disability because of an accident or illness.
  • Talented students.

Unit Accomplishments

  • Introducing the unit, its objectives, and the services it presents to students at the beginning of each semester.
  • Obtaining a priority card for special need students, which helps them a lot within the university.
  • Following-up of students and solve their academic problems.
  • Providing many activities such as workshops and courses during the semester.
