1- Introduction to the Department:

Department of Educational Sciences is one of the oldest departments in the college and the university. It is like the mother of the college in Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz University. The department presents programs that aim to prepare education teachers, to develop the education leaderships, and to contribute in the scientific research. It also provides general professional and cultural services that are required by the governmental educational sector and community sectors according to the targeted quality standards.

Moreover, the department holds in each semester a number of workshops and trainings delivered the department’s faculty members. In addition to regular teaching activities, the department conducts many scientific and academic activities such as educational books and researches publication and authoring. The department members contribute in many seminars and scientific meetings inside and outside the college and university that are related the educational field. They also supervise on scientific research arbitration for the educational magazines and arbitration committees, besides discussing the scientific letters delivered by postgraduate students.

The Department of Educational Sciences is one of the systems of the College of Education at Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University, which is integrated with the rest of the university's systems. To contribute to achieving the university’s goals in teaching, scientific research and community service, it is a supportive department for the academic departments of the college; It provides educational courses (compulsory), which contribute to the educational preparation of the student teacher in addition to his academic preparation, in order to prepare him for the educational field, according to the latest educational methods and methods, in addition to the contribution of the department by teaching some educational courses (optional) as university requirements in other colleges.

The Department of Educational Sciences is also heavily concerned with postgraduate studies, offering master’s degree programs in management, educational planning, and educational foundations. Through its programs, it aims to prepare and qualify cadres with high cognitive, professional and research competence in the light of global trends and recent developments, and to meet local needs in accordance with To quality standards and academic accreditation, it also contributes to providing consultations and educational scientific expertise to those interested.

In the context of the constant and continuous quest for development to serve the needs of the community, the department looks forward to expanding its postgraduate programs by introducing a Ph.D. program in educational leadership; To meet the growing needs of qualified educational leaders in educational institutions, and to enable graduates of the Master of Educational Administration to complete their higher studies; to compete in the labor market.

It is indicated that the Department of Educational Sciences relies, in achieving its program goals, on a distinguished elite of faculty members with expertise in educational disciplines, who have outstanding contributions to their scientific activities and research, and strive to perform their roles and tasks to the fullest.

Vision:

The achievement of the educational preparation of the students and community service according to quality standards and academic accreditation within the Islamic concepts. It also would be achieved in light of the knowledge community requirements through a mechanism that is characterized by originality and creativity to reach similar international departments.

Mission:

The preparation of remarkable educational workforce of teachers and researchers that are qualified and able to understand reality and analyze it. In addition, the initiation of renewing and innovating through the development of the department’s courses and committees to create a learning community that is based on high activity level. Furthermore, our message to respond to the diversity of the community’s needs, educational field problems and the challenges of the overall development. That would be achieved through presenting initiatives for educational reform. It also aims to promote the values of belonging to the religion, and then home, besides the optimum use of knowledge, research and technology in the light of the values of the community and its needs.

Objectives:

1- Preparing qualified educational cadres to work in the educational field to achieve the mission of education.
2- Spreading the educational culture among the members of Saudi society in general and those working in the educational field in particular.
3- Preparing creative and distinguished cadres scientifically, professionally and ethically.
4- Motivating male and female students, whether in a master's, diploma or bachelor's program, to research, study and self-learning in order to keep pace with the accelerated scientific and professional development.
5- Conducting appropriate scientific research and providing educational advice to community institutions. Providing consultations and studies that contribute to the development and modernization of education.
6- Updating academic curricula and preparing educational programs for postgraduate studies in the light of global trends and local needs.
7- Participate in preparing faculty members in all disciplines at the university and higher education institutions, with continuous educational training that enables them to perform their role effectively and efficiently.
8- Dissemination of professional ethics among faculty members, students and employees of the college, in accordance with the Charter of Ethics of the Teaching Profession.
