In the name of Allah. Praise be to Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. Keeping pace with the strategic orientations of the Kingdom in the fields of science, technology and distance education, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University is witnessing a significant development in all its facilities and services. The Kingdom seeks through these fields to confront current and future scientific and technical challenges, and to develop its capabilities scientifically and technically in a befitting manner. Wherefore, the University attracts and enhances scientific and technical capabilities and competences, and directs them towards meeting national priorities and needs. It also develops systems and infrastructure for scientific research and technical development, and have been providing an environment for embracing creativity, innovation and development. In line with University’s vision to contribute to achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the objectives of the College of Education in Al-Kharj are defined by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the needs of the future labor market, improving student environment that stimulates creativity and innovation, while continuing to develop the skills of College staff, academics and administrators, and embracing effective community participation. Improving their cognitive capabilities, which will help them excel globally in their field of specialization, it also established the Information Technology and E-Learning Unit, which focuses on the technical needs of faculty members and students.
Vision, Mission and Objectives
Vision
Implementing the Blackboard system, which is an integrated system for managing electronic educational operations, to promote the College of Education in Al-Kharj to become one of the leading Colleges in the field of e-learning and distance education. It includes tests conducting to upscale determine the level of learner, enrolment in courses, management of courses, assignments and tests, follow up on student learning, and supervision of synchronous and asynchronous communication tools.
Mission
Implementing the e-learning and distance education system within the College of Education in Al-Kharj and ensuring that the College of Education in Al-Kharj benefits from the services of the Deanship of Information Technology and Distance Education represented in the Blackboard system.
Objectives
- Implementing the e-learning and distance education system within the College of Education in Al-Kharj
- Coordinating communication between the College of Education in Al-Kharj and the Deanship of Information Technology and Distance Education
- Coordinating with the Deanship of Information Technology and Distance Education to provide training programs on the system within the College
- Following up the implementation of the calendar plan for transferring College courses into electronic ones.
- Spreading the culture of e-learning among faculty members and students, and setting a framework for e-learning in the College.
- Assisting students regarding e-learning and distance education system
- Providing technical support services on problems in the classrooms related to faculty members in terms of platforms, blackboards, devices and so forth
- Suggesting initiatives and solutions for the development of information technology in the College.
- Developing the skills of faculty members and support service employees in the use of information technology and electronic communication among themselves by preparing the necessary programs
- Setting performance indicators of information technology in the College
E-Learning Unit:
The Educational and Academic Affairs Agency.
Functions of the Unit:
- Facilitate the task of academic departments and programs to achieve integrated and complete e-learning activities from the reality of the grades and assessment center in the e-learning management system.
- Monitoring and implementing the unit's tasks on e-learning systems and programs.
- Conducting trainings on educational design and designing electronic courses in the college.
- Introducing the college community to the types of courses, tools and levels of e-learning in general.
- Designing electronic courses in line with the QM quality standards of 50%.
- Providing support and awareness to faculty members to develop their courses and submit them on the Blackboard system, Shams platform, and the university’s educational object repository.
